Hello Chaos

Ep. 148 Dr. Nekita Sullivan

Episode Summary

She didn’t plan to be a business owner. She sure as hell didn’t plan to open her first brick-and-mortar three weeks before a global shutdown. But when COVID hit, Dr. Nekita Sullivan had two choices: fold or fight. In this episode of Hello Chaos, Nekita sits down with Jennifer “JJ” Sutton to talk about what it really took to launch, lose, and then rebuild her business—Yoga Therapy Bar—from the ground up. This is more than a story about surviving the pandemic. It’s a conversation about what it means to be underestimated as a Black woman entrepreneur, what you learn when your financial safety net disappears, and how wellness isn’t a luxury—it’s a damn necessity. Nekita pulls no punches as she shares the highs, the heartbreak, and the hustle behind the scenes. If you’ve ever felt like quitting, this episode will meet you where you are.

Episode Notes

Key Takeaways:
1️⃣ Fear is part of the deal
Nekita didn’t wait to feel confident—she moved anyway. That’s how real growth happens.

2️⃣ You don’t learn business by reading books
You learn it when you're your own admin, accountant, and janitor. Nekita’s journey proves you figure it out as you go.

3️⃣ If you’re not putting your health on the calendar, it won’t happen
She calls it the “Dirty 30”—just 30 minutes a day. Sleep, move, breathe. Your business depends on it. 💥

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (00:01.359)

Our listeners get to hear the real, the raw, the unvarnished viewpoints and stories, getting incredible insights on what it takes to start and scale a business

or to become a better founder, a better CEO, or just a better business leader. Today, I get to have a friend on the podcast, Dr. Nekita Sullivan, founder of Yoga Therapy Bar. Welcome, welcome, welcome to the chaos.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (00:49.25)

Good morning. Happy Valentine's Day. It's my day.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (00:53.658)

that's right! Happy Melentimes Day!

Well, Nekita, I'm excited that you're on the show and start us out. I know that, you know, I got to see and hear your story because you participated in last year's Minority Business Accelerator here in the Greenville market, which is a statewide program, but we both, and I'm a graduate of that program and now a coach. So I got to see up close and personal.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (01:15.171)

Less.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (01:29.809)

your ups and downs and your story and it's just, I love the journey. I want our listeners to hear about your journey and I think it's extremely inspiring. tell us, how did you start Yoga Therapy Bar and get into the craziness of entrepreneurship?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (01:49.87)

Sheesh. Well, you know what? I never thought that I would be a business owner nor an entrepreneur because I am not a risk taker.

I was not raised to be a risk taker by my parents.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (02:05.083)

But you come across as a risk taker. You are bold, girl, you are bold.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (02:09.961)

I'm risk taker. I'm not. I was always taught to be stable, to be safe, to be secure. And risk taking knocks all of those out of the box. But I am a healthcare provider. I am a doctor of physical therapy. So as you all know, the healthcare industry is always changing. And throughout the years, I just became more more unhappy.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (02:21.541)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (02:31.941)

That's right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (02:38.561)

with the healthcare system. And it made me feel like a caged animal being at work every day. When I said to myself, self, is this the way you want to live the rest of your life? And I'm like, no, I was so uncomfortable. I'm gonna tell you how doggone uncomfortable I was. I would go to work every morning and just pray to make it to lunchtime. Every day at lunchtime,

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (02:54.971)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (03:05.22)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (03:07.585)

I would bolt out of the building to my car to eat lunch. And I would pump myself back up during lunch to go back and make the rest of my day in the afternoon. And I was just, I just couldn't do it. So I was like, okay.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (03:19.259)

Yeah, I think a lot of people can relate to that.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (03:28.407)

thinking about trying this business entrepreneur stuff, but I was terrified, completely terrified.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (03:36.177)

Was Yoga Therapy Bar kind of the first trial of getting toe dipping into, okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (03:42.03)

Hey, no. Hey, no. You know, I tried side hustles before. I was a side hustler. I'm still a side hustler. So I tried doing some physical therapy on the side. I tried doing some cosmetic businesses on the side. I tried a little bit of everything just to kind of dip my toes in the water. But

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (03:51.153)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (04:08.592)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (04:12.429)

I decided that I was going to give it a try. So I prayed about it and I started talking to financial experts because I had not saved in a business. And I was like, how am I going to do this? And once I started going and talking to banks, they were like, nope, because we cannot say that any business that you start will provide more of a profit than what you're already getting. So I was like, oh my God, what am I going to do?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (04:24.485)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (04:39.13)

Right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (04:42.625)

I got to fund my own dog on business. So bootstrapping here I come, right? So I pretty much pulled all of my monies together, my 401k, my IRA, my savings. And I was like, you know what? I got to do it my dog on self. Investing myself, I was so afraid though. And

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (04:44.955)

Yep.

That's right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (04:58.671)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (05:04.985)

and best in yourself. That's right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (05:10.669)

I gave up on it so many times. And then one day out of the blue, my financial advisor called me and he said, you know what? I think you can get some money for your business. I, no lie, I went into the kitchen of my house and I had a come to Jesus meeting with the Lord. And I said, Lord, if you want me to do this, I'm gonna go for it.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (05:12.998)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (05:23.471)

What?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (05:38.037)

And the only way that I'm not gonna go for it is if you stop me.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (05:41.819)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (05:43.469)

And then I took off.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (05:46.637)

All the signs were there. Universe was saying, shouting at you. Yeah, well, I'm still terrified. I've been in it for over 10 years. That fear, you just learn to live with it and just keep moving. Just keep moving forward. That's right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (05:48.521)

It was, but I still was terrified. mean, when I tell you terrified.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (06:01.133)

Shaking like a leaf. Shaking like a leaf. Not sleeping at night, having that gut-riching, terrible feeling in your stomach, feeling like you throw up some days. I'm serious. I mean, that's the seriousness of it. Not getting sleep and not knowing who to talk to sometimes because you know your family, they're not entrepreneurs. They don't understand.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (06:10.225)

That's right. Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (06:26.661)

Right, doesn't, they don't understand, yeah. Yeah. Right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (06:30.797)

see you struggling and they want to get out of the struggle, right? So they're not really supporting you in the struggle because they want you to stop suffering. And I understand that, but at the same time, that's why it's so important for entrepreneurs to surround themselves with other entrepreneurs. Yeah. So thank you, Jennifer.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (06:40.431)

Yeah. Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (06:49.521)

That's right, right. You are so welcome, that's right. I mean, love our minority business community and it's a safe space for us to be able to have those, because I started entering spaces and I realized real quickly not all spaces are safe to let down kind of your hair and open up your business and your books and kind of all those vulnerabilities.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (07:08.001)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (07:18.703)

not all circles are necessarily the safe circles. So I've appreciated the communities in the pockets that I have been a part of, that I...

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (07:36.853)

Hold up, hold up.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (07:38.337)

There she is.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (07:40.203)

We gotta go back out. Hold tight Nikita. Nope, not that one.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (07:43.863)

Sure.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (07:51.019)

Okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (08:20.769)

There she is!

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (08:21.149)

All right, I'm back.

to you. Makeda can you hear me? I don't hear her. you hear?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (08:28.457)

Absolutely.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (09:07.038)

All right, I'm back. I can't, there I am. Sorry, I should have warned you. I have a weird wire and soon as I touched the dang thing, it popped out. It is sensitive. All right, we do another countdown and then I'll just pick up. are we still rolling? All right, we'll just edit that out. All right, so we were talking about, know, not all spaces are all alike and so it's,

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (09:08.778)

Okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (09:12.557)

That's something.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (09:19.501)

It's a tube.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (09:28.321)

Okay.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (09:37.116)

That's one of the reasons I started OrangeWIP and doing these podcasts is to help build a more connected entrepreneurial community, but also making sure that, know, entrepreneurs, are like-minded, we are like-missioned, and founders, I think, help out founders, you know, more so than the organizations that are a part of the ecosystem are great, but it's really about founders helping founders.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (09:50.337)

Yes.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (09:55.244)

Yes.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (10:06.701)

True, true.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (10:07.504)

and coaching us through those moments and stuff. So yeah, well, so now you're in it. What's been the most rewarding part? Do you regret going and becoming, know, starting the business? I mean, I it's been hard. you like, would you ever go back and say, just, I'm gonna forget this.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (10:09.985)

Yes, ma'am.

real tough.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (10:33.453)

absolutely have several regrets. Yeah, yeah, I have regrets every day. But I'm hoping that one of these days I will be able to reflect back on it and say it was worth it. Because where I am now is not where I started. So Jennifer, here is the story. When I was a student at Clemson University, there were very few places for students of color to go get our hair done.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (10:44.882)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (10:49.512)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (10:57.298)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (10:58.689)

We would usually drive to Seneca, to Easley, Anderson. I'm from Greenville, so I would just come home and get my hair done. Well, I came back and opened a multi-ethnic salon in downtown Clemson, one block from the university, where students of color could get their hair done. But I opened on Valentine's Day, 2020.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (11:04.541)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (11:12.238)

I had no idea. Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (11:33.966)

was open three weeks and then COVID shut down the whole doggone world. My first brick and mortar business outside of an industry that I didn't even know how to run. And I'ma tell you what, I cried like a little lamb. I cried like a little lamb for months. And then I was like, I gotta pay this dog on rent. You know what?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (11:35.762)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (11:39.282)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (11:46.108)

Ugh.

That's, yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (11:57.245)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (12:01.697)

didn't nobody know what in the world was going on. I lost all of my salon employees because everybody just scattered. Nobody cared about what industry it was. So here I am with a dog on business that I didn't know how to run all by myself and money just

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (12:18.61)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (12:21.916)

Yo.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (12:22.081)

just went out of the door, just, I mean, thousands of dollars each month. And I'm crying and I'm struggling and I'm still working and I don't know what the heck to do. And I finally got some CARES Act money and I was like, you know what? I gotta do what I can do. I can't start this salon thing back up. So here's the super cool thing about the pandemic. Cosmetologists couldn't get supplies because the supply chain was so backed up.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (12:37.244)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (12:40.968)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (12:48.338)

Right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (12:49.707)

So I saw, I sold everything that I had on Facebook. I sold everything in my salon and they came and got it. But I was like, okay, I got to reopen doing something that I can do. So as a doctor, physical therapy, yoga, Pilates teacher and wellness professional, I pivoted. What the heck is pivoting for a new business owner? I didn't even know how to pivot, but I had to.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (13:10.504)

Yeah, you pivoted hard.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (13:13.677)

I pivoted hard and I reopened the yoga therapy bar. So I provide physical therapy, yoga, Pilates and wellness out of this space. And that started in 2021 of January.

Poof!

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (13:30.718)

Well, bravo, bravo. That's a win, Nekita. That is a win. Celebrate that. Most people wouldn't have done that. A lot of people wouldn't have done that. That's, I mean.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (13:38.732)

Ugh.

I know.

I didn't have a choice. know, people were telling me I had advice from people to close. I had advice from people to file bankruptcy. But I...

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (13:51.783)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (13:55.582)

What was that inner drive? What were you like, I gotta do it? Was it just more of like, know, survival mode or was it like what?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (14:05.985)

survival mode, but Jennifer something was just telling me that I wasn't supposed to quit. Even though everybody else was and when I say everybody else, I'm talking about professionals who were advising me and I just was like, I can't I even tried I even tried I came in here one day and started taking the stuff off the walls and I just started balling and I was like God just hasn't told me to quit yet. I can't give up on it yet and then I started thinking about

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (14:10.055)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (14:30.589)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (14:35.551)

all the blood, sweat and tears that I put into starting it up and everything that I had sacrificed because things got so rough during the pandemic that I rented my house and then I actually sold it because that was the only way that I could stay open during the pandemic because all of the money that I saved for the startup went down the drain just trying to stay open.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (14:37.277)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (14:53.746)

Yeah.

Did you?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (15:01.95)

Yeah. So what's been the most rewarding part then? Now that, know, fast forward, it's 2025.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (15:15.393)

the things that I didn't expect. So for example, I was contacted by Clemson University to keynote their Women's and Leadership Conference. And I was like, why are y'all choosing me? And they said, because you're a black woman business owner in Clemson, South Carolina that has survived during the pandemic. And I was like, okay.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (15:31.048)

Bravo.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (15:44.514)

but it hasn't been a successful survival. Y'all just don't know. Y'all don't know the behind the scenes. But I mean, things like that and meeting people that I would have never met any other place or in any other space, you know, and, and, students coming up to me and saying, we're so glad you're here. We didn't even know that there were any black business owners or owners in downtown Clemson or

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (15:46.3)

hahahaha

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (15:59.473)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (16:07.71)

Mm.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (16:13.421)

people contacting me and asked, Oh, and here's another one. The South Carolina Women's Business Center had an inaugural business summit last year and they asked me to keynote it and I was like, what? me? Why me? And she said, because there are so many business owners in South Carolina who are in your timeline. And what she meant by that was she said, I don't want somebody

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (16:17.053)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (16:27.134)

girl.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (16:43.319)

who is out there all the way up here in their success mode. I need somebody that can talk to these people who are struggling with business at their time like you that they can relate to.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (16:51.568)

about the grit and perseverance. They need to see that, that it worked. they're right, Greenville and some of these smaller, I don't know if we, I'm not sure the stats, COVID affected a lot of business about like Charleston. There is an area of Charleston that was like 100 % of the black owned businesses. I think it's in North Charleston, all went out of business.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (17:20.012)

Okay.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (17:21.854)

100 % in an entire area of Charleston. you know, and they haven't recovered. Like they're still trying to, for people to start up and open or reopen and pivot. But yeah, it's, know, five years later, they're still, we lost a lot of minority-owned businesses during that time. So I'm glad that they reached out to, for your,

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (17:35.083)

Right.

Yes.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (17:46.987)

Of course.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (17:50.866)

for your voice and your story, because I think it is inspiring. When you're in it, you know what mean? People need to hear it when you're in the mud. They need to know that there's people that can help pull you out of that mud. Yep. Yep. I've been in the mud too.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (18:02.869)

In the mud, absolutely. I've been in the mud a lot. And you know what, Jennifer, even during that time, I was able to do a Zoom speech to the Harvard Business School Association of Boston. And one of the guys, after I finished, came on and he said, we don't usually let the audience speak to the speaker. He said, but there is a guy that's just dying to come on and ask you a question. Is that OK? And I was like, sure.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (18:31.036)

All right, yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (18:33.121)

So he comes on and he says, you know what? America teaches us in general, not just business owners, that when we're in a tough situation that we should be the victim. He said, why did you not accept the victim mentality with this business situation that you're in? And I was mad about it at the time because I was like,

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (18:53.512)

That's a great question.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (19:01.483)

what's your angle on asking me this question, right? Okay. But I was like, you know what? I didn't know what else to do other than to try and try again. I mean, and that's just a woman thing. We're backed up against the wall. We don't just quit. We try again and we try again and that's what I did and that's what I'm doing. And

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (19:03.282)

Yeah. Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (19:16.275)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (19:20.638)

It's all right, we just keep going. It's all right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (19:29.662)

That's right. what was the resilient part, the most surprising thing that you've learned about yourself or if you found other things about you that you were like, whoa, I never knew this about myself.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (19:30.103)

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (19:48.418)

Well, I knew I had some resilience. I knew I had some. Well, what's been so eye opening is because I've had limited financial resources, I've had to learn how to be a multi-hat business owner, right? So I've had to learn how to do marketing, how to do social media, how to...

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (19:55.23)

You had a lot, I think.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (20:14.398)

All right. Be an accountant, be everything.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (20:18.381)

a bookkeeper, a cleaner, a daily operations person. My administrative assistant is myself. So it has grown abilities and skills that I didn't have. It's made me sharper in some business skills that I didn't have. And I'm thankful for that.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (20:25.362)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (20:40.669)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (20:47.031)

But at the same time, really wish I could afford to pay people to do that kind of stuff that will do well, right?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (20:51.398)

Yeah, that's the reward, right? When you start scaling, you're like, ooh, I can delegate this to somebody that take the stuff I hate to do. Right. Right, right. Well, so what is something that you have found that you like about yourself that you wish other people would recognize more from you?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (20:57.642)

you

Let's get to it and do it well. I've just been trying to figure it out. Right. Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (21:22.539)

It's been tough being an underdog business owner, right? When you email people and when you call people, they don't respond. They don't return your phone calls. They don't email you back because they don't know who you are. They don't recognize your VALUE. They don't recognize your value. And that makes me mad. It makes me angry.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (21:24.796)

Hmm. Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (21:31.496)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (21:36.967)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (21:41.502)

Yeah.

That's right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (21:52.78)

because I'm reaching out to you, because I feel like my services are valuable and that they will benefit you and your market, but I can't even get you to respond to me. So it would be icing on the cake if other people in the world, other business owners will recognize that women business owners have valuable services.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (22:05.854)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (22:21.901)

All we need is an opportunity to show you. Will you give me that opportunity to show you? I'm not asking you to pay me for a poor service. I know my service is the bomb.com. I know it's valuable. I just want the opportunity to show you that it is.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (22:26.323)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (22:30.173)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (22:34.419)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (22:38.174)

Hahaha

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (22:46.706)

That's right. And to have the courtesy, we get ghosted a lot. The ghosting.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (22:48.183)

Ta-da!

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (22:51.702)

neglected underestimated, devalued.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (22:57.182)

Right. And then of course, like, and then when they do respond, you're like, oh my God, I can, you know, if it's gotta be, I don't know if you feel like women, think founders and business owners, and we have to be somewhat perfect. Like anything that falters, like we get more, I think, criticized quicker. There's less tolerance for mistakes or errors or.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (23:18.381)

I'm not.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (23:24.589)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (23:25.468)

You know, we're judged a little bit differently too. So we've got to be on on it. Even though the even though the respect isn't always returned.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (23:29.325)

Yes, and Jennifer.

True, true. And I have another layer to add to that that just happens to fall during Black History Month is I am a business owner in a city where the population of Black sentences is 8%. And you know, just in general, Jennifer, you know this as a marketing specialist that people like to purchase products and services from people that they identify with, right? Who looked like them? Who represent them?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (23:40.744)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (23:59.794)

Right. Right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (24:04.437)

So how am I going to have a successful business in a city where the majority of the population doesn't look like me? And I knew that was gonna be a challenge, but the challenge has superseded my expectations. it's been a tough journey. For example, there is a hotel that is one block away from me that the owner is a white male.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (24:15.016)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (24:21.191)

Really?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (24:32.766)

Hmm. Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (24:34.707)

And I've been trying to get in touch with him for years just to offer my services and he will never respond back to me. So, you know, you know, we have to, we have to network, right? And make connections through other people when we get him to talk to us, right? So yes, he didn't know that I, he didn't know that I knew one of his boys, right? So I called up one of his boys and I was like, I've been trying to get this guy to,

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (24:44.552)

We gotta be, right? Build those relationships. We gotta have our sponsors. Those people that endorsers.

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (25:04.001)

just talk to me and I can't. How about two hours later, he emailed me. Two hours, I've been trying to get in touch with him for two years. All I had to do was reach out to one of his boys and he emailed me in two hours. And guess what his response was? This is the busiest month of my business year. Can you tell me what this is about?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (25:05.576)

Great.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (25:11.998)

How was that?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (25:30.93)

Did you sell your value?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (25:33.845)

No, he was like, he was like, the best that I can do for you is I can put some of your cars and some of your marketing materials at the desk. And if some of my hotel tenants would like to purchase your services, I'd be glad to do that. So that was his way of saying, you know what? I don't have time for you.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (25:51.389)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (25:56.968)

but you gotta take those little nuggets and go, thank you very much, I will deliver you as many cards as you want with some discounts. Please, please distribute.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (26:00.833)

Yep. Yep.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (26:08.296)

Please don't move away because it costs money. Yes, I know it. But that's part of the journey, you know, and that's life. You're going to have that kind of stuff happen, but you have to have thick skin as a business owner.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (26:17.118)

That's right. It's-

That's right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (26:24.016)

Yeah, you do. Yeah, you do. know, the no's are gonna come. And you can't take them personally. But it is hard. That was part of my journey of like the first few years, I was taking every no personally. And I was like, I gotta get over this. is, know.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (26:30.688)

Of course!

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (26:34.465)

That's so true.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (26:43.671)

Hello.

Yeah, because I just generally think you're going to get more nos than yeses. So be thankful.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (26:51.162)

yeah, well also we're not a fit for everybody. Not everybody's gonna see the problems that we solve for them. And I don't wanna, I know now, I don't wanna work with everybody. Not everybody is a good fit for our team or for that we can't solve their problems. Yeah, that's been a little bit of a hard look, because I was like, can solve everybody's problem. It's like, I can solve their problem.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (27:02.719)

Absolutely. What do mean? True.

Yes, great perspective, Jennifer.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (27:20.602)

It's do I want to work with them?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (27:23.251)

Absolutely. Yeah. And is it worth the energy? Shoot.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (27:25.614)

Is it worth the energy? That's right. Some it's not. Well, if you had to hit rewind, mean, rewind as far as like.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (27:30.177)

Promise not.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (27:38.8)

I know that's like because COVID was the was the biggest thing. But if you had a re what would you have? Would you have not done the hair salon? I mean, because I mean, because there was a market there.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (27:50.241)

Ooh!

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (27:53.806)

And it still is. People come up to me all the time and say, you gonna? No, I'm not. No. No. It's new. What all I've sacrificed to be here. I can't do another one. I can't pivot again. But I am pivoting again.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (27:57.758)

You're like, I'm staying on this track. We're focused on the yoga. Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (28:07.197)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (28:13.273)

You are pivoting because you're now going, I mean, know you've got to break some order, but you're also trying to take it online. Because like you said, the market, there's only so many, you know, that.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (28:19.916)

Yeah, well...

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (28:24.781)

True, true. And what's actually happening is my lease is expiring in the spring. So I had to make a decision with, am I gonna stay here or not? But I'm not, I'm not gonna stay. So I'm taking, I'm Yoga Therapy Bar on the road. She's going on the road. Well, actually I'm just gonna be providing more services for corporations, groups, organizations on site. Because that's how I started my career. I started my career as an industrial.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (28:32.744)

So what do you?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (28:41.2)

All right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (28:48.209)

Okay.

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (28:54.647)

physical therapists at BMW. So corporate wellness is my lane. So I'm trying to provide more services for corporations and groups and do more stuff online and telehealth because that is the future of healthcare.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (28:56.134)

Okay, is, yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (29:07.091)

that is the future. And being more mobile, you're better accessible. Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (29:12.161)

Yes. Yes, yes. And I am exhausted from managing a facility and I need a break. And it's so expensive. Rent is through roof. Yes ma'am.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (29:20.956)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (29:24.574)

is really, Okay, so if you could change two things about your business today, I give you wand, you could change two things, what would they be?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (29:35.405)

Okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (29:40.589)

I would love for my business to be completely online.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (29:44.242)

Like all your videos, like all of that. Yeah, like a subscription, a membership of things, okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (29:47.403)

Yes, like a library of videos.

Yes, because there are so many people out there who have issues and they want videos that solve their issues. So instead of just being able to subscribe to physical therapy or yoga or Pilates classes, I would like to create a platform that allows them to have those videos for their specific issues. So.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (30:18.536)

Cause you, cause talk about that. I don't think that, that our listeners kind of fully understand. You're not just a yoga, like you're doing it for physical therapy to getting people like back resilient again, you know, whether it's injury or age, weight or whatever.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (30:29.933)

It's true.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (30:36.311)

Yes. Yes.

Yes. Yes.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (30:43.186)

So that's what you're talking about. It's not just a regular Pilates class. It's like, no, no, I need to do, I have a lower back issue and I need to recover from a lower back or I've had surgery and I need to recover from a surgery. Those are the, that's what you're talking about, right? Is those are your videos, your content. Okay, yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (31:00.897)

Yes. Yeah. So like back health class is an hour long video of therapeutic yoga and clinical Pilates moves that you can do if you need to improve your back health. So regardless of if it's sciatica, if you have a lumbar strain, if you're recovering from surgery, this is what we're going to work on for that full hour or whether it's a hip injury or arthritis or somebody recovering from

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (31:27.912)

Right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (31:30.859)

Surgery the video

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (31:31.164)

Right, or age, you know, great for like, you know, the aging community and stuff, okay, so I, okay. And then what else would you change? So getting you completely online, membership, all the, what else would we change?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (31:37.887)

Yes, I will accept it. Yes,

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (31:53.566)

I would get my life back by hiring people to help me.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (31:55.934)

You're like, I would have money to hire a team.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (32:01.079)

Yes, and I would no longer be a one woman show. This one woman show stuff gets old quickly.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (32:05.744)

Yeah, team meetings are real boring.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (32:09.325)

Hey, hey, I'm excited about having a team one of these days, even if it's a team of two, it's a team. That's right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (32:18.416)

Yeah, it's a team. Now you have to lean on like the entrepreneurial community. You got the coaches and your cohorts to lean on each other. Well, what's the best advice that you've received? I know you went through the accelerator, but you also are a really good networker. mean, what advice were you given when you had to pivot, when you like, you know, to keep you going forward?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (32:31.479)

Yes, and I'm so grateful for them.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (32:48.446)

we.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (32:49.218)

you

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (32:53.606)

I know you got some good stuff that you can share.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (32:54.081)

boy.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (32:57.503)

Of course, I do have so much good stuff and it always depends on the situation as far as what I remember. But I mean, I have so many people that nudge me. But I will say, one of the things that really inspires me the most is when people tell me that it's not all about me.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (33:04.562)

Yeah

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (33:24.577)

So sometimes I get caught up in my business and thinking, you know, I got to do this, I got to do that, I got to do this. But sometimes people remind me that sometimes where I am in my business may be for somebody else who is watching me. You know, other entrepreneurs who need to see whatever situation I'm in at the time. And I'm like, I never thought about it that way that.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (33:39.142)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (33:45.981)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (33:51.58)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (33:53.111)

It isn't always about me and that sometimes maybe what I'm going through is to help somebody else.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (34:02.962)

That's right. Like another entrepreneur. Yeah, that yeah, absolutely. I think we all I mean, like I said, that's one of the reasons I started OrangeWIP was I didn't feel like there was enough voices, diverse voices, a broad enough spectrum of voices of entrepreneurship. Like, you know, when we would look in our ecosystem here in Greenville, I mean, it echoes that.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (34:06.101)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (34:31.248)

across the country. We just kept seeing the same sentiment, whether I was in Greenville or when we kind of looked at Indianapolis or Columbus, Ohio or Oakland, California. It's like when we started, even like some of the bigger, Austin and Boston, had very similar sentiments of you get an ecosystem that

only lifts up maybe like the 1 % the unicorns and they all kind of look alike. They all have similar stories. They all have like, it's that game of like this person got this much in investment and or this person has exited and look how great our entrepreneurial community is. And you got to that's that's like the 1 % right? I mean, you know, and so you get the other 99 % out there.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (35:05.238)

Okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (35:23.373)

Woof.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (35:27.806)

that are going, I don't look like them. So I must not be doing something right. I'm not an entrepreneur. That's not kind of what my path looks like. so maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe I shouldn't even try. I shouldn't even like put my foot in the arena. So that was one thing. That's why I wanted to start OrangeWIP was like, how do we become more of an independent voice?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (35:47.767)

Mmm.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (35:58.002)

that is showing a broader spectrum of those voices of what the definition of what entrepreneurship is because, you'll get to it when I ask one of my key questions of that journey word, but everybody, we all have similar themes of our struggles. The imposter syndrome, whether you're male or female, women and minority,

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (35:58.509)

Okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (36:21.858)

Yes.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (36:27.698)

Business owners have different struggles when they walk into rooms. The scalability of, my favorite new term is the new level, new devil. So as you start getting growing where you are today, you might be one person, but when you get to 20 people, Nekita, other challenges happen?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (36:31.585)

Yes!

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (36:42.112)

OOPS

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (36:52.966)

Right? When you go from 20 people to 100 other or when you go from 100 to then 5,000 people, know, challenges like the weight of things, you've got to, you're continuously pivoting. we, we, you know, hear these consistent themes, but everybody has a different journey, how they've come to it. And people need to know that's normal. So.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (37:10.423)

Right.

Yes.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (37:18.252)

Yes.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (37:20.11)

you are dead on spot on and I'm glad that the people, those people that were reaching out to you going, need to be a keynote because it's good for people to hear the struggle and be an inspiration to those because we need more of those voices that from the I'm in it. mean, like we talked to people that are literally starting launching their business. We had somebody on the podcast, I think it.

That's the one that's published this week, Yeah, Debbie, she's from Scotland. When we were interviewing her, she had just put in her notice. She'd been doing it as a gig for a couple of years, and she had just put the notice in at her company, and she was like, but I'm so joyous. You could just see the joy. she was like, I'm scared, but I'm not scared because I'm ready. I'm ready for this. But she was like, I had to give up.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (37:57.143)

Okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (38:02.637)

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (38:15.329)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (38:19.826)

the safety net of a really lucrative salary. And we also talk to people who have been in business for 20, 30 years and are preparing for an exit. So we've talked to the broadest range of founders and like I said, similar themes, similar struggles, but we all have a different journey. We all have different words that express that.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (38:32.439)

Yes.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (38:42.529)

Right?

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (38:48.306)

That's why I'm gonna ask you yours. If you had to sum up your entrepreneurial journey in just one word, what would that word be?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (38:51.041)

Okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (38:59.137)

Roller coaster. Have you ever been on Space Mountain at Disney World? Yes, you remember that the roller coaster in the dark with all those heels and turns? That's been my journey. Dark, light, turns, heels.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (38:59.889)

Aha!

Yes. Yeah. Yes.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (39:16.478)

So you're really the scare-o-wins at night when you do the, what is that roller coaster that's at Carrow, the big one? But you do it at night, it's in the dark. The big wooden one, I don't know what it's

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (39:32.514)

Well, one in DC World Space Mountain is inside so that they can control the light. So it's dark all the time. Yeah. I'm. So you get on it and you go in and it's dark and you're up and down and curved and then you come out of the tunnel and you're in the light. So.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (39:35.322)

it's all completely dark. Yeah, always dark. You're like, I'm in the dark.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (39:55.07)

Yeah

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (39:55.118)

So, know, it's hills, it's peaks, it's valleys, it's dark times, it's light times, it's winds, it's losses, it's celebrations, it's tears, it's, you know, it's changing and something like that.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (39:59.454)

That's right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (40:03.486)

That's right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (40:08.026)

I love it, but it's good. It's exhilarating. It might be scary. You get that, but you're like, yeah, absolutely.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (40:13.421)

Yes. And then sometimes I'm like, ugh.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (40:18.812)

Yeah, I've said this before on the podcast. I heard this from another founder that our journeys are two emotions, euphoria and depression.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (40:28.577)

Mmm.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (40:32.95)

A to

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (40:33.212)

Hey, we are way up here or we are way down there. We want to get in that plateau, but it's really, really hard to get in the plateau to get in that. But yeah, it is hard to stay. Well, and it's because we're wearing different hats, we're scaling. It's again, new level, new devil, new. My advice to founders is you've gotta be ready to learn.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (40:45.101)

Yeah, yeah, and it's hard to stay in the middle.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (41:02.524)

You need to then unlearn and then you've got to relearn and then you've got to rinse and repeat. Repeat because you're going to be facing things that are new every day. And you're going to discover things about yourself that you've never thought that you knew about yourself. Yeah. What what are some other I know like the resilience? Were there other things that were real surprising that you learned about yourself and your journey? Yeah. Well, like what?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (41:13.857)

Yes. Yes.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (41:21.513)

Absolutely.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (41:30.481)

heck yeah. When I was trying to figure out how I was going to fund my business, my financial advisor was like, you know, I know this guy who owns two businesses in Traveler's Rest who is extremely financially stable. Extremely financially stable. Let me just say that. And he was like, I want you to meet him. You know, you never know. He may be able to help you financially.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (41:37.874)

Bye.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (41:58.195)

Right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (41:59.522)

How about I go to meet this guy and him, his father and my dad were friends.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (42:05.744)

and you didn't know him.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (42:08.845)

my dad were friends and he knew my dad and I didn't even know him. But you know what he told me? He said, I know your dad, I know your DNA. And he wrote me a check for $20,000 to fund my business because he is extremely financially stable. Let me just say that for the third time. So I'm just like, you just sometimes you just have to put yourself out there.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (42:12.988)

Wow, small world.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (42:21.734)

Wow.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (42:34.462)

That's right, universe will answer.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (42:39.455)

And it may not be the answer you want or need, but yeah, sometimes you just have to put yourself out there and let whatever happened to it.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (42:41.64)

but you gotta listen. Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (42:52.092)

Right? Almost like don't be afraid, right? You are afraid, but well, we had another founder that's what his whole journey was all around. He moves in fear, but he moves confidently in fear. was, it was, yeah, he was like, you're always gonna have some fear, but he was like, he goes, I was moving.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (42:55.925)

Yes, even though you are afraid.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (43:12.577)

No, no, I like that. like.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (43:20.296)

confidently, I was making decisions in fear. You have all the criticalness, going through the decision matrix in your head of like, is this gonna be the right thing? But he was like, you never know, but you just gotta move ahead. Just, yeah. Right, and it's okay.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (43:41.057)

Yeah, risk taking becomes one of your qualities.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (43:48.478)

That's just, know, there's not a characteristic type that makes up like the entrepreneurs, you know, other than I think we have, we're more, we have greater resilience, grit, gumption, whatever you wanna call it. Somebody was saying that, or was it grit is perseverance plus passion. I love that.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (44:13.277)

Okay, and look, I'm a freakishly introverted Scorpio. Now, put both of them things together as a business owner. Woo-wee!

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (44:22.78)

Yeah, yeah, well I'm an introverted Aquarius, so yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (44:28.525)

Okay, okay, but my business has brought me out of my turtle shell.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (44:32.124)

Yeah, have to, you gotta play the role. There was another entrepreneur, like, I was saying I was a, ambivert, I think was one term, but another founder kinda summed it up for me. She was like, we're learned extroverts, because as founders, even though we're comfortable in our introvert space, it's

We have to learn to put ourselves out there to be able to network, be able to present, play this part because that's what it takes to build a brand, to build your personal brand, to build your company brand, to lead a team. So you gotta learn, relearn, unlearn, rinse and repeat all of the above, the cycle. So okay, so Nekita, one year from now, you and I meet up.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (45:13.471)

Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (45:18.635)

Yes, ma'am. The cycle.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (45:28.178)

What are we celebrating?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (45:30.337)

We are celebrating the fact that my business is completely online and it is thriving, growing. And I am able to spend time with my family and friends and community and be healthy and be balanced. Have a team. Yes, and be comfortable with being a risk-taking entrepreneur. Yeah, that's what I'm going to

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (45:47.944)

Have a team.

Like you're gonna go, I'm calling my first team meeting.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (45:57.148)

Yeah, let's do it. We're putting it out there. We're manifesting it. So I didn't ask you. So if we look ahead to your journey, the next chapter, what word describes that chapter?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (46:01.558)

We're putting it-

Universe, here it is!

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (46:20.936)

Mm, successful.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (46:21.357)

Success.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (46:25.182)

All right.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (46:25.717)

And you know what? I've learned that success doesn't always look like success to other people.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (46:28.786)

What does that mean for you? Yeah. How do you define success?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (46:36.247)

Success for me, and you know what? I've been so uncomfortable with the way that my business has grown because to me, I used to see success as profit. And people around me were like, you're looking at success the wrong way. It's not just about you being profitable, but look at...

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (46:52.936)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (47:03.853)

your impact that you're making on your community. Look at what you've learned. Look at the abilities that you have now that you didn't have and the skills. Look at what you're able to offer people. So I have learned that success looks different.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (47:06.141)

Right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (47:22.62)

Yeah, it does for everybody. Like you're right, that's a really good, I think that's a good insight and a good lesson for founders of know what does success look like for you? Because some, you're right, it's like I'm creating impact into this community or what have you, or it could be freedom. And whatever freedom means for that person, yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (47:43.083)

Yeah, yeah.

for that person, Yes.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (47:51.23)

But you're right it looks differently for everybody that's good

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (47:56.354)

Yeah, yeah, that's one of my mature lessons that I've learned as I have more birthdays.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (48:04.922)

That's right. All right. I'm going to ask you. So most entrepreneurs, founders, you know, we are high stressed people. Typically, we're, you know, either buried in front of our computer, hunched over doing something or on our phone. What are some what are some techniques, some some routines or a discipline, a habit, a wellness habit that we need to adopt in our daily life?

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (48:10.048)

Okay.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (48:35.186)

coming from a wellness professional.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (48:35.383)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (48:39.691)

I just had to do a workshop this week for our technical college about this step because it's simple, but it's not simple. So it's simple what we need to do, but because our lives are full of multitasking, we just can't figure out how to integrate it. But you have to make time for your own health. So you have to make sure you sleep. You've got to make sure you exercise.

Simple things that we take for granted because we're trying to do a hundred things in a day and there's only 54 hours. So what I explain to people is you have to put your own health and wellness on your schedule. else is not gonna happen? If you don't schedule time to do 30 minutes of exercise a day, it's gonna be 12 o'clock and you have an exercise.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (49:14.226)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (49:22.13)

Right, right. Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (49:31.986)

Yeah, I've got to adopt that daily. do, I've like, slowly over the last few years, I've done the, I've adopted weeklies and monthlies, but I'm trying to make sure I schedule in something daily. Yeah, like an exercise, like I do, Pete Chandler's gonna laugh at me, but he knows, but I take these juices every day. I take my vitamins, I take my, you know, do my teas and.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (49:47.873)

Just take it one day at a time.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (50:01.15)

and I do my meditation, but I need to do more, like, even if I just go walk, like, it is very difficult for me to just 30 minutes.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (50:11.937)

And that's why I tell people to just think about it as your dirty 30, 30 minutes a day. And see people get so bogged down and, I don't have 30 minutes. Yes you do. Do 10 minutes in the morning, sometime in the afternoon, do 10 minutes more and maybe do 10 minutes in the evening. And then this lady was like, I can do that. It doesn't have to be perfect and it doesn't have to be done all at one time.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (50:15.73)

Dirty 30.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (50:23.347)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (50:29.714)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (50:34.076)

Yeah.

Dr. Nekita Sullivan (50:41.421)

Walking from the parking lot. Sometimes some of these big corporations, I used to work at BMW. It took me 10 minutes to get on the parking lot. Yeah! Take a 10 minute walk and lunch. Stretch 10 minutes before you go to bed. That's 30 minutes. You're worth it. You gotta put yourself on your schedule.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (50:48.232)

That's right.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (50:52.722)

Yeah.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (50:56.434)

Yeah, I am worth it. We're all worth it.

Jennifer "JJ" Sutton (51:04.03)

OrangeWIP is a multimedia company dedicated to serving founders and entrepreneurs in affiliate cities. We are in three South Carolina markets today.

looking to expand to other cities because every market needs an OrangeWIP. We've designed hyper local media platforms to be the independent connective tissue between founders and the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. We do fresh and engaging stories that are local, a curated local calendar that shows the events founders should go to, the incubators, the accelerators they need to sign up for, the grants that are available in their market.

We also put together a local dynamic roadmap, a resource directory. Each market has anywhere from 80 to 200 resources. Most are free that you can go and seek out information of how to start, scale, and grow your business. We've done all the hard work for founders, so they only need to go to one trusted place to find the local information they need.
